Household Magazine Purchases The Size and Nature of the Market Magazine penetration is extensive in the United States. More than four out of every five households subscribe to and/or purchase at newsstands at least one magazine title every year. On average, every household purchases six different magazines annually, and almost six out of ten households both subscribe and purchase their magazines at a newsstand or other retail outlet.
