Channels Receivable vs. Viewed

As the number of channels available to a TV household increases, as it has in recent years, what is the effect on the number of channels actually viewed? It appears that after reaching the 50-channel level, additional channels produce no significant increase in the number of viewed channels. The viewing remains in the 15- to 19-channel range. Even the 121+ channel group averages only 20 viewed channels out of an average of 158 available channels.
